1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account or using Ratesis (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
The Service is intended for members of the American University of Beirut (AUB) community and requires a valid AUB email address (ending in @mail.aub.edu) to register. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use Ratesis only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You may not misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to it, scrape or harvest data beyond normal use, impersonate others, post spam, or submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information (including course or drop-and-add details).
4. Unethical behavior results in a ban
Any unethical, abusive, dishonest, or harmful behavior on the Service may result in the suspension or permanent ban of your account, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. This includes (without limitation) harassment, fraud, manipulation of ratings or reviews, sharing another person’s private information, and any conduct that violates AUB policies or applicable law.
5. Reviews and user content
You are solely responsible for the reviews, ratings, comments, and other content you submit. By submitting content you confirm it is your own honest opinion and does not infringe anyone’s rights. We may remove any content that violates these Terms at any time.
Reviews must remain respectful and constructive. Personal attacks, defamation, and content unrelated to a genuine academic experience are not permitted.
6. Vulgar or abusive professor reviews — immediate ban, no refund
Professor reviews that are vulgar, profane, contain bad language, slurs, threats, sexual content, or that are otherwise abusive or defamatory are strictly prohibited. Submitting such a review will result in an immediate and permanent ban of your account.
In the event of such a ban, no refund of any amount you have paid — whether a subscription, fee, or any other charge — will be issued. Any remaining paid balance or access is forfeited.
7. Payments and refunds
Where the Service offers paid features, all fees are stated at the point of purchase. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. In particular, no refund will be provided where your account is banned for violating these Terms, including section 6.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably believe your conduct may harm other users, the Service, or AUB. You may stop using the Service at any time.
9. Disclaimer
Ratesis is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Course data, seat counts, and schedules are drawn from public sources and may be inaccurate or out of date; always confirm official information through AUB’s registrar. Reviews reflect the opinions of individual users and not those of Ratesis or AUB.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
